Ever since I caught a look at Rosalie from UCHIBACOYA, I’ve fallen in love with the art design and general direction of the game. I’ve been following it for a couple of months now, and not once have I thought about skipping this gorgeous release. While I haven’t played their previous hit, Sweet Lands, it certainly helps that the equally stunning euro sits at an impressive 8.2 on BoardGameGeek.
Why it’s on my radar:
- The Japanese Design: I’ve played plenty of brilliant small-box Japanese designs like Scout, Love Letter, and even Doughnut Drive-Thru where every single rule is used to its utmost. I’m eager to see how that signature design philosophy translates into a much heavier, longer euro.
- A Fresh Theme: High-interest loans and care-robot automation sounds like an economic juggling act, and your typical euro-flair, but wrapping those mechanics in a rose garden competition makes me feel like this is going to be easier to get to the table.
With only 4 days left on Kickstarter, here is the official breakdown of what to expect before the campaign wraps up:

UCHIBACOYA to launch Rosalie, a strategic board game where players manage a rose garden and compete for the title of master horticulturalist, on Kickstarter July 21st.
FUKUOKA, Japan – June 1, 2026 — Japanese board game publisher UCHIBACOYA will launch Rosalie, a heavyweight euro-style board game about cultivating the most enchanting rose garden, on Kickstarter starting July 21, 2026 at 8:00 AM EDT.
Known for acclaimed titles including Aqua Garden and Ostia, UCHIBACOYA has raised more than $2.8 million USD on Kickstarter to date. Rosalie features character design by Brownie 120, the artist behind Sweet Lands which was funded by more than 6,800 backers and named one of the top games of 2025.
In Rosalie, players take on the role of ambitious rose garden managers in a town famous for its history of rose cultivation. Starting with nothing more than a modest plot of land and a loan, players must carefully develop new rose varieties and build the most prestigious garden in town. Behind its elegant beauty lies a deeply strategic gameplay experience centered around difficult business decisions and long-term planning.
Key Features
- Automate Your Garden with Care Robots: Hybrid roses can be temperamental. The rarer the variety, the more demanding their care becomes — and any neglect may result in them withering away. Fortunately, players can utilize specialized Care Robots to automate garden maintenance and optimize efficiency.
- Grow Fast with Loans, but Beware of Interest: Money can be borrowed freely at any time, allowing players to aggressively expand their operation. However, interest accumulates each round, and excessive debt can spiral into even greater financial burdens.
- Interactive Action Selection: Rosalie features a unique rotating action board system where players choose 1 of 7 possible actions before passing the board to the next player. Players may copy actions chosen by opponents — but doing so requires payment to that player, creating constant tactical tension.
- 8 Unique Characters & Endless Replayability: Each character offers distinct strengths that shape entirely different strategies. In addition, players select 4 out of 7 ability cards each game, ensuring fresh strategic combinations every session.
