Awaken Realms announces 3 new games in 2023, and a dice set?

In 2022, Awaken Realms solidified its partnership with Gamefound. Both Tainted Grail: Kings of Ruin, and Castles of Burgandy Special Edition, made the top two crowd-funded games on the platform. Today Awaken Realms, along with Gamefound, gave us a look at some of their upcoming projects in 2023.

What’s the plural of Nemesis? Nemesi?

Starting off, they announced a new version of Nemesis called Nemesis: Retaliation. Using the same system as before, you’ll take the fight back to the aliens in their own lair.

This time, players will take on the roles of highly trained marines, entering the alien nest with strict orders and the most advanced tools available. But will they be well-prepared enough to face the unrelenting horde that awaits them?

After Nemesis: Lockdown, earned over 9 million dollars (AUD) in its Kickstarter campaign, it’s no surprise Awaken Realms is revisiting the alien invested well. The surprise, however, is that it’s come so soon. While some people still haven’t received their Nemesis: Lockdown pledge yet, let alone played it on their table.

Additionally, with all of these versions of Nemesis arriving in massive boxes, it begs the question, how much, is too much?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? I hardly know her!

The next announcement was a new board game based on the popular video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The creatively titled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Board Game is going to be a story-driven cooperative game that will see players move through a number of scenarios. Searching what remains of Chernobyl for artefacts of magical power.

Scenarios will include stealth missions where you quietly move between unaware enemies while scouting new locations, tactical gunfights, retrieval missions, artifact hunting, navigating through dangerous anomalies, fighting mutants, and many more! Each Stalker will be a unique character that will be able to upgrade its gear as well as skills between different scenarios, so there will be something special for everyone!

Given the amount of flexibility between scenarios, we can expect another big box game such as Tainted Grail or Journeys in Middle Earth. This release ties in nicely with the 2023 release date given to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. As such, there’s never been a better time to bring Chernobyl to your table.

Enter the dragon

Also announced was a new 1-2 player board game called Dragon Eclipse, based on all new Awaken Realms IP. So far the graphics look wonderful, and the world-building is immense. Which is really the hallmark of Awaken Realms.

Explore a vivid and immersive world filled with majestic and unique creatures you can battle, tame, catch, and train. Each creature has a unique deck of cards you can use in combat and special abilities, offering endless tactical possibilities to master. As you journey through the world of Dragon Eclipse, you’ll face hard decisions and discover different paths ahead. Dice, why’d it have to be dice?

By far the most interesting announcement is a new dice series called AR Vault: Story Dice. These look to be some of the weirdest, most unbalanced dice in existence. Yet, you can’t deny their cool factor. From a crystal mouse D6 to D12 with cities etched into each surface, these dice look absolutely stunning.

A new line of Awaken Realms products, AR Vault, focused on creating one-of-a-kind tabletop accessories is starting with Story Dice. Those very special, beautifully crafted dice will bring your tabletop experience to a whole new level during your favorite RPG / Board Game session. 

You can expect a lot of amazing sculpts that will help immersion and create adventures over your table – some of them will be universal, and some, dedicated to certain activities or even a game. Like for example, Intruder die for Nemesis.
