It’s that time of month where I share with you my hopes, dreams and ambitions. What’s currently in my shopping list, and a bit more future forward – what Kickstarters I’m personally waiting for. Let’s get into it.
Until Daylight: This one has my curiosity more than anything, there was a great post by Ross Connell over on moregamesplease.com about Ben Bauchau showing off the art of this game, and woah mumma. Unless I hear it plays horribly, I’ll most likely be in for the art alone. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a BGG page so there’s nothing I can link you, except this article again.
Empyreal: Spells & Steam: Playing Pandemic: Iberia, I found that I have a deep seated love for building train tracks and then picking up and delivering things around the board. Empyreal is published by Level 99 Games. I haven’t played any of their games so far, but they always get raving fanatics spitting out nothing but compliments from their frothy mouths. Anyway, this game is about spells, trains, and automobiles, OK I lied about that last one, but it has a pretty cool anime art style and asymmetric player powers. It just came onto Kickstarter recently, and I might pick up some other Level 99 Games in the pledge.
Concordia: Of late, I’ve been succumbing to the hype. I mean, I usually do anyway, just I’ve been buying games because of the hype, rather than being interested in the game itself. It’s worked wonderfully. Both games, Santorini and Spirit Island, have been great – and will be reviewed soon! Concordia is another one of these games that’s received universal approval, so it’s about time I jump in.
Arboretum: A while ago now, Z-man released a series of deluxe card games. This entire series was praised, and the two crowning jewels were Archaeology and Arboretum. However, they decided to stop publishing it. This kind of broke the board game community into two groups, the haves, and the have nots. The haves have been letting us know what a great game it is for the last year or so, and every time they pipe up, the urge to go looking for this game increases, as does the utter disappointment when you find that it hasn’t been reprinted. Recently, Renegade Games put on their super suit and bought the rights to publish it. It’s only a matter of time before it ends up back on the shelves, and ultimately into my collection.
That’s all he wrote. Have a great weekend guys, and as always let me know if there are any games I should take note of.
I played Concordia once, fell head over heels in love and giddy as a teenager went and bought a copy. Young love! Everything in it flows together so nicely and playing again did not disappoint. Four players felt smooth and breezy, but at five players it felt like there was as overload of information and decisions sat just on the wrong side of difficult (although that might have been the beer!)
Still, lovely game, definitely check it out if you can.
